sound sleep

Hello lovely people

As i promised, here i am. I will tell you how i got diagnosed with cancer. Let’s go back a few years right. I gave birth to my second child right before lockdown. You know the covid 19 pandemic which made our lives limited and we learned the value of society. Anyways, yes, so my midwife advised me to go for cervical smear test after a year or so. Previously before my baby’s birth, my smears were normal. Apparently, right after birth pap smears test can come abnormal so should take my sweet time to go back to get one. Pap smear tests are usually conducted on women who are sexually active to check if everything is going fine down there specifically in the cervix, to check for hpv infection, cancerous tissue or any other infections or abnormality. When my boy was only six months old, we found ourselves in the lockdown. I was feeling lower back pain those days. We put it on my starting work again, looking after two children and body still recovering from child birth. So I ignored. Lockdown was over and i went back to work. I started noticing blood during intercourse. But we thought it is because of child birth (i had a normal vaginal birth, my boys were more than 10 pounds), i had third degree tears. Anyways i thought of going to take an appointment and see my GP about it. It was hard to get appointments because after lockdown medical services were under lots of pressure, covid vaccinations, patient limitations inside the building, covid test and regular visits. So i couldn’t get an appointment. I noticed my periods were heavier than usual, after period there was strange smelling discharge. Oh those days were tough. I tried hard but no appointments, however i found myself under another lockdown. My husband caught COVID. That was very difficult time, luckily he didn’t do that poorly and he managed to be his normal self in a week. He was couriered medication at home. So i was looking after my children, my sick husband and at the same time keeping house covid clean. I managed to get a phone appointment with the doctor who was treating my husband. He said that i might have got some UTI or yeast infection because i had delivered a baby. He prescribed some antibiotics which i got couriered to me. I was relieved at least its not something serious. After the lockdown, i luckily managed a doc appointment, a real one, i wasn’t examined physically saying i had been treated for urinary tract infection (UTI) and might not get accurate results. So two years passed like this and i couldn’t get any doctor to recommend me for a smear test or any other test. Oh yes how can i forget, i had a blood test. And i was prescribed folic acid and vitamin C. I knew things weren’t right. Then one night after putting my children to bed, i went to take a shower. Mid shower i noticed a warm feeling down my legs. There was blood, not period like blood but bright red non stop blood. I panicked, I yelled out to my husband. He asked me to put on some clothes and a pad. He knew something was wrong too. We called our friends to stay the night with our children- my kids were enjoying their sound sleep, didn’t know that was the last time they were sleeping this peacefully while mum was getting ready to get the most devastating news of her life. Oh what happened at the hospital had itched in my brain for the rest of my life. I will talk about that later.

Hugs
